Overview
Adenoviruses cause infections of the respiratory tract and less commonly, the conjunctivae, gastrointestinal tract, and the genitourinary tract. It can be transmitted via the respiratory or faecal-oral routes and fomites as they can survive for long times on surfaces.
They are associated with bronchiolitis, conjunctivitis, diarrhoea in infants, and mesenteric adenitis.
